BE EMBODIED

Reclaim Your Rhythm

live course

Women's Sadhana

Honouring our bodies, honouring our wisdom – this series of  classes will invite us to listen and trust ourselves – ultimately to tune into or  reconnect to  our rhythm.

Once a week through November we will meet to tune in through asana, meditation and nervous system healing techniques.

Grounded in our understanding of perimenopause –  menopause – post-menopause  and an acceptance of change – with insights from the world of yoga and ayurveda. We will certainly look at common experiences, work with yoga for the liver for example or I’ll share meditations for brain fatigue – but the deeper inquiry will be to tune into this new phase of life and what it has to offer us. And what we might be able to offer each other – listening to each other. Our invitation is to  drop the judgments and expectations we place upon ourselves at this time of life…

I want this to be open to all women – whatever stage of life.  I will share many insights into the empowered menopause journey as this is the phase of life I am in right now -but the practices will be suitable for all women.

Each masterclass will explore a different  theme. first up – embracing change.

What to Expect...

  • Drop-in online Masterclasses – with a focus on menopause but suitable for all women

  • Yoga and Meditation for grounding and guidance through perimenopause and menopause

  • Meditations for enhanced intuition
  • Ayurvedic insights into our perimenopausal and menopausal journey
  • Bonus Video practices

This is a time to soften into who we are becoming. To let go of outdated versions of ourselves.

Masterclass series...

Menopause is not a linear journey. There is no final destination. Our experiences of menopause moves  in waves. There isn’t really a beginning, a middle and an end –  our experiences shift, flow and spiral back again  – so it is time to trust our unique rhythm that has guided us throughout our lives. This is why I also feel that this work is not limited to women “in menopause”!

But menopause is about change – there’s no denying it – our needs and desires evolve: what worked at 30 may not work at 50.

So menopause is a journey of acceptance. Accepting the beautiful and humbling journey of change – and the possibility of transformation. This is an invitation to find our rhythm…

We will look at understanding our menopausal experiences through  an ayurvedic lens – so insights into body types (doshas), seasonal changes, herbal supplements and conscious nutrition. There will be trengthening and rejuvenating yoga asana practices some weeks…   Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra to encourage deep listening  other times – tuning into our body’s own innate wisdom.

We will work with yoga and meditation inspired by Shakti – Goddess energy. We will talk of different Goddess archetypes and how we can find fortitude and inspiration from working with them. We will also talk about the importance of community.  Learning to appreciate our changing role as women. We might not yet be the grandmothers, the elders – but our voice is strong.

Our sadhana is simply our daily practice – this could be an hour or a quick 5 minute meditation…  but it is our daily commitment to self practice.  I will share lots of practices that you can then either incorporate into your existing daily practice or start to create one…

My intention is that at whatever stage of life we are at – we learn a deeper sense of embodiment. Trusting ourselves to make conscious decisions in times of change, while also meeting others and holding safe space in a challenged world.

Embracing Change...

The classes will be mostly practice – And I will share bonus pre-recorded practices and articles/ slides on my research into the conscious menopause journey.  A lot of the time, we get stuck in ‘symptoms’ and ‘battling’ menopausal symptoms like brain fatigue, hot flushes, night sweats etc (etc!)

And we will look at conscious practices that are antidotes to brain fatigue and pranayama for hot flushes, but I also want to share deeper insights into how we can find inner strength.

We will look at  how burnout, judgment and porous boundaries go hand in hand. When we don’t feel safe to say no, or when we equate self-worth with self-sacrifice, we slowly abandon ourselves. But midlife offers the opportunity to move from porous boundaries to conscious, fluid ones — ones that breathe, flex, and protect.

What are you no longer willing to tolerate?

Our menopausal experiences are akin to those of burnout – s chronic fatigue, brain fog, emotional overwhelm, and a heightened sensitivity to stress. These are not symptoms — they’re signals.

Let’s start listening to these signals  and tune into a deeper trust of our bodies wisdom .

"We should never judge how any woman experiences menopause. Each woman is just trying her best to make peace with herself." Alexandra Pope

Learning to Listen in a Noisy Menopausal Marketplace

Maybe if we start to trust ourselves and honour our body’s own innate wisdom, we will be able to tune into the right practices and supplements for us intuitively.

Intuition needs space… intuition needs quiet.. and yet our attention is under attack…

There is also another battle we need to consider… the commodification of menopause and ultimately our bodies.

I have long taken issue with the wellness “industry” – we need to be vigilant of false or embellished claims, “meno-washing” and the increasing fight for not just our cash, but our attention.

It is great that really only  in the last 10 years has it become acceptable  to talk about the menopause… or in fact women’s health in general.  But, we now have to navigate an overwhelming world of products, supplements, opinions and a new wave of judgments on top of the symptoms we might be experiencing, the lack of mental space we might feel and our questions about where we are at in life.

"Viriam is truly one of the very best meditation and yoga teachers I've ever met. She has the most soothing, and comforting voice and her words have a way of grounding you in the present moment like nothing else. She has a really special way of making you feel a deep sense of calm and safety, as she guides you on the journey inwards. Having worked in a profession which can be emotionally gruelling, her classes have been my magical touchstone."
